Tag window

The Tag window displays all tag fields and all file parameters of the file that is current in the Tags table. It is convenient to use this window for editing a tag of one file.

In this window you can choose the mode of the current tag using the toolbar:

Current tag. The tag in the current global mode which is set through Tag mode menu.

Common tag.

Id3v1 tag.

Id3v2 tag.

Art. Here you can manage all picture attached to the tag.

Lyrics. Here you can see/add/remove and edit lyrics of the tag.

The Tag window has four sections:

Main
File parameters
Additional
Web pages

In ID3v1 tag mode it has only "Main" and "File parameters" sections.

"Directory" field and all fields in "File parameters" section are read-only.

One field can be selected.

Navigation

Top arrow	Moves selection one field up.
Down arrow	Moves selection one field down.
Home	Moves selection to the topmost field.
End	Moves selection to the bottommost field.

You can also select a field by a left click on a label of a field.

Field Editing

There are few ways to start editing content of a field:

Left click on a field.
Press Enter. It starts editing of the selected field. If editing was already started it stops editing.
Press Tab. It starts editing of the selected field. If editing was already started it stops editing and moves to the next field.

If you want to finish editing press Enter to save changes or Esc to discard them.

You can always undo any changes by using Undo command .

You can use placeholders in fields. After Enter press they are changed by actual values.

Commands

Perform a right click on a field to see all commands supported by the Tag window.

Here is the description:

Command	Description	Shortcut
Play file	Play the current file. An external player registered in operating system is called.	Ctrl+P
Cut	Cut a value of the selected field.	Ctrl+X
Copy	Copy a value of the selected field.	Ctrl+C
Paste	Paste a value in the selected field.	Ctrl+V
Delete	Delete a value from the selected field.	Delete
Cut tag	Cut the tag from the current file.	Ctrl+Shift+X
Copy tag	Copy the tag from the current file.	Ctrl+Shift+C
Paste tag	Paste the tag in the current file.	Ctrl+Shift+V
Delete all tags	Delete all tags (ID3v1 and ID3v2) of the current file.
Delete ID3v1 tag	Delete ID3v1 tag of the current file.
Delete ID3v2 tag	Delete ID3v2 tag of the current file.
Change encoding	Change encoding of all selected and the current cell. Encodings can be change only for non-Unicode fields. So only in ID3v1 tag mode. The encoding can be changed only to a relative one. For example, if the current encoding is Western European (Windows-1252) then it can be changed to Western European (ISO-8859-1). Or if you want to change from Greek (Windows-1253) to Greek (MacGreek) you should choose Windows-1253 in View->Encoding at first.
Change charset	Change charset of all selected and the current cell. The charset can be changed only for Unicode fields. So only in ID3v2 tag mode. Before changing charset you should choose the current encoding correctly. For example, if you see Cyrillic symbols and you know that a field should be in Greek then choose in View->Encoding Cyrillic (Windows-1251) and then Change charset->Greek (Windows-1253).
UPPER	Change register to upper in the current field.	Ctrl+U
Lower	Change register to lower in the current field.	Ctrl+Shift+U
Capitalize first letter	Capitalize first letter in the current field.	Ctrl+W
Capitalize first letter in all words	Capitalize first letter in all words in the current field.	Ctrl+Shift+W

Format of fields

Every field has its own format. For more details see format of fields.

Art managing

If you choose Art mode you can manage all pictures that are embedded or linked to the tag.

A picture can be embedded in a tag so it will never be lost (the first art on the picture above) or it can be linked (the second art).

Linking is very convenient if you want to set the same picture to all files from one album and save space. But there is some risk to loose it.

Art pane displays picture dimensions and size and its graphic type if picture embedded or URL otherwise.

Every picture has type and description which are depicted below the picture.

The pane contains toolbar with buttons for all actions that can be applied to the pictures:

	Command	Description
	Add pictures	Adds one or more pictures to the tag.
	Save selected pictures	Save selected pictures to chosen directory.
	Delete selected pictures	Delete selected pictures from the tag.
	Delete all pictures	Delete all pictures from the tag.
	Get pictures from Web	Search cover art in online databases and save in the tag if found.
	Edit picture properties	Calls dialog to set picture type and description.
	Embed selected pictures	Embeds selected pictures to the tag. If pictures are already embedded then nothing happens.
	Link selected pictures	Save selected pictures to chosen directory and links them to the tag. If pictures are already linked then nothing happens.

Lyrics managing

If you choose Lyrics mode you can manage lyrics embedded in the tag.

You can edit lyrics as simple text and undo/redo changes during your work using proper buttons on the lyrics toolbar.

After editing your lyrics you should press the button Save changes to tag. In this case tag is modified and you can save it to the file using Save button from the main toolbar.

When you load lyrics from a file or remove them using proper button these changes are made directly with the tag and you should not use the button Save changes to tag.

The lyrics pane contains toolbar with buttons for all actions that can be applied to lyrics:

Undo	Undo last change made in the editor.	Shift+Ctrl+Z
Redo	Redo last change made in the editor.	Shift+Ctrl+Y
Align left	Align lyrics text left.
Align center	Align lyrics text center.
